Over 45 devices now support VoLTE voice technology in the Telenor network

Telenor expands the list of mobile devices supporting the Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology to over 45 different models.

Calls with HD quality are now available to the users of Huawei P30, P30 Pro, P Smart (2019) and the Mate 20 Series, Honor 8 Lite, 8X, 10, 10 Lite and View20, Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e and S10+, Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XZ2, as well as Motorola moto g6 Plus and moto e5. With the new additions, smartphones by six of the most popular smartphone brands, including some of the leading models on the market support VoLTE by Telenor.

The addition of a new device that supports VoLTE in the Telenor network is a two-way process, in which the company and the device manufacturers work together. As part of the process, the smartphone manufacturers provide software that should meet the technical requirements of the operator. The actual activation of the VoLTE function can happen after joint tests and approvals from both sides and through a software update to the clients’ devices.

VoLTE advantages include a shorter initial connection time, compared to the times in 2G and 3G networks. In addition, customers continue to use 4G mobile internet without interruption during calls.

VoLTE by Telenor is available to all residential and business customers, who have VoLTE-compatible devices with a 4G-enabled plan and are located within the operator’s 4G network coverage. VoLTE is not available to Telenor pre-paid customers and to corporate clients that use some specific business services.

To make calls with VoLTE quality, both sides must use the technology. The calls made through it are charged according to the customer’s mobile subscription plan and do not use the available mobile internet data. To take advantage of the capabilities of the technology, Telenor customers must activate the VoLTE option in the device’s settings.
